Keeping Belfast, ME Beautiful 2025 Recap: A Big Win for Belfast

On Saturday, May 10th, 2025, a dedicated group of volunteers gathered for the 8th annual Keeping Belfast Maine Beautiful (KBMB) event. Despite chilly temps and off-and-on drizzle, spirits were high as residents and local businesses came together to give Belfast a much-needed spring refresh.

Volunteers picked up gloves, trash bags, and cleanup assignments at our new check-in spot—the Bell the Cat parking lot on Hatley Road. Among the early risers were teams from Ducktrap and other local supporters, ready to roll up their sleeves and hit the roadsides, trails, and public spaces across town.

This year’s turnout was smaller than previous years, but the impact was still strong. In fact, several of the same stretches of road had noticeably less trash than last year—a clear sign that the continued efforts are making a long-term difference.

Once the hard work wrapped up, volunteers returned to the lot between Bell the Cat and Athena for a free BBQ lunch featuring burgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks. The picnic was generously sponsored by Bell the Cat, and we’re excited to share they’ve already committed to hosting again next year.

Huge thanks to the businesses and organizations that made the day possible, including Bell the Cat, Hannaford, and Pinkerton & Sons Disposal, who donated a dumpster and handled waste removal. Your support keeps this community event running strong.

KBMB is proof that when a town comes together—even in less-than-perfect weather—real change happens. We’re proud of what was accomplished this year and can’t wait to build on the momentum in 2026.

Let’s keep it going.
